Route Details

The route begins at the car park at the southern end of Rossnowlagh, beside the Sandhouse Hotel. Walk along Rossnowlagh Strand passing by the rocks at Carrickfad and then along the shore until joining with Murvagh Beach.

Cross the sand dunes at Murvagh and join the road, following secluded lanes back to the starting point at Rossnowlagh passing Durnish Lake along the way.

  • Durnesh Lake Freshwater lake resident to innumerable plants, birds and fish

  • Franciscan Friary – Centre of Peace near Rossnowlagh, overlooking Donegal Bay. It is homes the Museum of the Donegal Historical society

Level beach walking and peaceful country lanes. Take care of rocks at the north end of Rossnowlagh Strand at Carrickfad, which can be dangerous during incoming tides.
