Ómós Billy Finn
February 1 @ 9:00 pm - 11:00 pm€10.00
Following on from last year’s tremendous sell-out concert honouring Ballyshannon’s renowned musician, Billy Finn, the organising committee are delighted to confirm that this year’s concert will see an all-star line-up of some of the most gifted traditional musicians in Ireland.
The concert will feature many local musicians who played with Billy and will include promising local fiddler Daire Gallagher who will be in duet with Caoimhin Mac Aoidh. Songs will be provided by the tremendous Shauna Mullin accompanied by Seanan Brennan. Shauna is one of the most gifted singers in both Irish and English of her generation. She has toured both Europe and North America with the Dave Munnelly Band and in a solo capacity.
One of the most exciting uilleann pipers of the modern era, John Tuohey, will be performing on a marvellous set of concert pitch pipes made by the famous Taylor brothers. Taylor brothers’ pipes are uncommon and keenly sought by uilleann pipers everywhere. Their tone and balance are considered by most as the pinnacle of the instrument. John’s extensive repertoire of piping classics will feature throughout his performance.
Patsy Hanly will bring the night to close with his fantastic flute playing. Patsy was born in Kilrooskey, County Roscommon and was well known to the Finn family. He was always rightly considered by Billy Finn as one of the greatest of flute players. Patsy has toured the world and enthralled audiences wherever he performs. As a fitting recognition to his mastery of the Irish flute and his contribution to the Irish music tradition Patsy was awarded the coveted TG4 Gradam Ceoil Lifetime Achievement Award in 2018.
The concert will take place in Dorrian’s Imperial Hotel, Ballyshannon, on Friday night, February 1st starting at 9pm sharp. Admission is €10.00 with partial proceeds to local Donegal charities.
